Nice to meet Phil en route to View the Long-tailed Duck which was on Withins Res with Tufted Ducks from 2.10pm to 2.29pm when we left.
A couple dog walking told us they'd seen a large Bird of Prey at the back of the sailing club with a white band on its rump. It is a HARRIS HAWK and is currently sat on one of the chicken/bird coops in small holding behind the sailing club, making regular snoops round all the enclosures eyeing up all potential prey. It has took to the wing a few times and has been harassed by a Sparrowhawk.
Other birds of note... 15 Goosander Tufted Duck Great Crested Grebe Grey Heron
At the feeders... Greenfinch Chaffinch Great Tit Blue Tit Jay

Just a brief scout. 22 goosanders, mixed GULLS of black headed, common, a herring and a few lesser black backed. 2 female common goldeneyes, no sign of long tailed duck I'm afraid. lots of goldfinches and greenfinches on feeders. (I feed them in my garden not too far away and I'm not getting as many now- but its better for them as now they don't get disturbed) so please wateh out for lesser redpoll and siskin, they arrived on my feeders from most Januarys. All the best to you all.

My appologies, I forgot to mention the grey wagtail near what they call the pump house ( or sluice gate hut). He was very close along the water line. Several close great crested grebes were also along that stretch too. Ps. The long-tailed duck is a female winter. (My collins guide at work has gone walkies so I'm having to double check her sex with an inferior guide.) I left her at wader point opposite the old hall farm.
