This early afternoon:
c400 Starling feeding in fields south of Moss Lane, Astley c230 Pink-footed Geese flew up off the Chat Moss/Little Woolden Moss area (viewed from Astley Moss) and flew noisily around in circles for nearly 10 minutes before dropping back down.

7 Tree Sparrow over Prospect Grange Farm A large mixed thrush flock feeding on berries near Four Lane Ends - approx 200 Fieldfare, 50 Redwing, 200 Starling, 10 Blackbird, 1 Mistle Thrush. 52+ Teal 10+ Mallard 1 Lapwing Mixed flock of 100+ thrushes over (estimate 80+ Fieldfare and 20+ Redwing) 1 Meadow Pipit 1 Pied Wagtail Mixed Tit flock along track contained c.15 Long-tailed plus a few Blue, Great and Coal Tits

A flock of 500 Starling and around 700 Woodpigeon were off Moss Lane this early afternoon.
A skein of c180 Pink-footed Geese flew low and disorganised over Rindle at 2:30pm having seemingly been disturbed off Chat Moss somewhere. They flew off east over Worsley Moss but then turned and headed off NW gaining height as they did so.

Little Woolden Moss today:
Sparrowhawk 15 Linnets 23 Skylarks 1 Wheatear 1 Stonechat 97 Pink-Footed Geese flew in from the west and landed on the moss at 12:55 then flew off back west at 13:20
From Saturday, 8th October 2016 12:30 - 15:30 hrs.
Walk along Twelve Yards Road (from Bartonmoss Farm) and around Little Woolden Moss - fairly quiet - but enjoyed gorgeous Autumn weather.
Nice to meet Dave Steel and Dave Stewart
Highlight was large flock of Pink-footed Geese which Dave Steel mentions on his earlier posting.
In addition other birds seen included:
2 Wheatear in ploughed field to north of Little Woolden Moss (thanks for call back and tip off Dave S!) 7 different sightings of Kestrel 4 different sightings of Buzzard 9 Lapwing Skylarks and Meadow Pipits
