An interesting wonder about after at first putting of a visit due to heavy rain. Saw the redstart (and about time i saw one too) at 4:15pm along with a (possible 1st winter female) pied flycatcher in the hedges near the brook behind Crow trees farm (which went missing soon after flying past me). Also to note there was an immature common whitethroat. At leasr 4 spotted flycatchers were about on Elton, 3 of which was along "the creek" with little grebe and gadwall, the other spotted flycatcher was along the hedges near the boat club house on the wall side. Several other warblers were around including chiffchaff, willow warbler, and blackcap (heard), finally 2 shovelers, 2 lesser black backed gulls and 2 grey wagtails were also seen. And thats that for now.

I made a last minute decision to visit Elton this afternoon, without my scope.
When I arrived late afternoon, there were boats on the main reservoir, so I didn't even try looking for the Ruff. There were also dog walkers walking around the the water's edge.
I found the two Garganey at the Withins end of the main reservoir and they eventually came fairly close to the area I was standing in as another dog walker waked past them.
