Absolute shed load of Gulls at one point before all flying off many of them disappearing into thin air, tried to count what I could see safely but many more birds out of view and plenty circling too high above the yard to identify. Ive only taken into account adults.

Nipped out to get a few bits whilst Lucas was asleep, and called in for short visit whilst passing.
- 2nd W Caspian Gull I actually picked this bird out in flight as it was circling above the yard, as it dropped down I could see it had pale underwing coverts so it was definitely worth a closer look. Luckily it did the decent thing and landed on the rubbish mound in full view. It seemed to stand out with its whitish head, long dark bill with creamy pale tip and dark eye. Well over 100 large Gulls both visits and most of the visible roof birds were adult Lesser Black-backed with a small number of adult Herring Gulls. Many birds were in the air silhouetted and only birds that afforded good flight views were safely separated as Lesser Black-backed or Herring.

I?ve called at least once every day since my last post except for Thursday 1st April as I was working. Again, not a single Gull.
Of interest I received an email last week, didn?t see it until today as it delivered to my iPhone mail app rather than Gmail app. It was from Pat Monaghan at Glasgow University ringing group, regarding an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull I had here on 9th March 2018. It had an unusual colour ring combination with no numbers or lettering. Pat no longer works with Gulls but provided me with info (from Ruedi Nager) after I sent an email a few weeks back, one of those things why they didn?t get back to me the first time round.
Lesser Black-backed Gull. R : Yellow / white / red L : Blue Ringed at Isle of Walney 19/05/1999.
Sighted at Albion Landfill Site, Leicestershire, by Steve Lister. 20/11/14, 04/12/14, 26/02/15
So it was in its 20th year when I saw it in 2018, some going!
Not much doing here recently, and in 3 visits in the last 3 days, not a single Gull of any kind which I was expecting. Plenty of activity from other stuff though!

A belting individual that showed well all over the site. I first saw it on the main Redgate building where it remained for about 15 minutes sometimes walking out of view, I picked it up in flight then it dropped into the yard at the far end but I was over near the main building so I lost it momentarily. I picked it up in flight again and it landed on a lamppost then onto the 384 roof, it did a few circuits again and also landed on the metal framework in the yard a couple of times, back onto the main Redgate yard roof but I eventually lost it! A great looking Gull in my opinion!
