Davyhulme. This morning a low flying (roof level) Ring-necked Parakeet was being pursued by a Peregrine over my garden. Looked like a male bird, presumably one of the pair frequenting the Chill Factore at the moment.

Two over our Stockport garden this morning at 10am the person on the other end of the phone was most startled when I shouted out " Ring necks" he was most surprised to learn they are so common now.
This chap once had clipped Mandarin ducks on his garden pond before they took off some years ago and could be related to the ones at Woodbank Park and Reddish Vale.

20 minutes of quite a lot of activity in Fog Lane park this morning.
14 ring-necked parakeets spotted hanging out, two of which were having a mid air scrap!
It was generally really noisy and i was struggling to distinguish the sounds. And maybe still a little dark for me to see well.
But I think a walk round here at lunch times might help with my learning bird calls!

First time I have seen them in Monton, Eccles. There are two ring-necked parakeets on stable fold lane in the trees by the road as you go past the church on the left the road bends and there are a group of flats. In the flats garden are some feeders and the two of them are going on the feeders. Really close as well.

Went to Platt Fields Park this evening but was too busy to feel comfortable.
Relocated to another site that the Parakeets pass through en route to the roost.
Very difficult to count, but I fairly certain that we saw close to 300 birds pass through. Will pop by again and try to do a better count.

20+ birds flew from south to north over the western edge of the Trafford Centre just before 1900 yesterday. They flew low around the back of the Premier Inn and seemed to disappear. There are plenty of large conifers around the Trafford Golf/David Lloyd area, I wonder if they are roosting somewhere in this location.
