Common Scoter still there at 1.30pm. A fantastic bird for me. In 45 years birding I'd never seen an inland Scoter. It was getting me down! But not any more. Thanks Steve.

On the football pitch at Lock Lane were 30 Fieldfare, 4 Redwing, and c80 Starlings.
At the Dam were a pair of Grey Wagtail. The male with very bright yellow parts.
There were at least 4 Common Gulls in the fields with the Black-headed Gulls.
A Chaffinch was in the wood, a Pied Wagtail and a Kestrel were seen.
Nothing at the flood.

On arrival at flood, this am:
Black- tailed Godwit.. Flew off 9.12
Shelduck ...Flew off 9.15am northwest
9.26am... Whooper Swans ...c30 flew over medium height down Lock Lane heading northwest.
2 Oystercatchers, a Pied Wagtail and a Chaffinch also present.
Flood still partly open of ice.

Thanks to Phil for posting about the Shelduck. I resolved to brave the wind for a Rumworth tick, and was soon onto it after a 2 mile drive and a very short walk from Tempest Road. Redshank still there too when I left at @ 4.00pm. I think it was a drake by the way.

Skylark....2 one defending it's territory, in a face off with a Lapwing down to 9 inches. Oystercatcher....6 Gadwall...3 Shoveler....3 Teal....3 Tufted Duck...2 Kestrel....1 Pied Wagtail....1 Curlew....2 met Steve on the way out and he was on to these two, in the western fields. Mary who feeds the birds daily ( St. John's Wood) has seen a probable Redpoll on the edge of the wood.
Despite my 2 visits to the flood today, the Little Ringed Plover seen by Ed this morning was not present for me.
Yesterday: 3 Linnet and a Grey Wagtail. Plus 6 Tufted duck at the Dam which included 5 drakes.
I watched a Lapwing at Lock Lane repeatedly 'dive bombing' a magpie, which was on the ground.

3pm southern fields:
Two Mediterranean Gulls at least, with c200 Gulls.Many sat
Or sleeping in Grass. Grass appears to have been recently treated
which appears to attract them. Starlings, Woodpigeon and Lapwing present too.
Also yesterday morning, six Linnets and a single Meadow Pipit, in and out of the hoof prints on the flooded field.
