There were a couple of Willow Tits around the feeding area near Horrocks Flash this morning.
Elsewhere:
Horrocks Hide
1 Common Sandpiper and 1 Redshank
Ramdales Hide
2 Little Ringed Plovers and 1 Redshank. Nearby 3 male Blackcaps were singing and trying to intimidate each other.
6 Great Crested Grebes were in the bay, with one pair in full display.
Teal Hide
7 Goosanders (1 male)
Viewing the mature willows on the North side of this pool from the open meadow area just across the ditch a small bird with prominent white wing flashes came into view.
The bird did'nt pose for a second but kept flitting around the branches, just as I was about to dismiss this as just another Chaffinch, the bird gave a good view, but only for a split
second. It showed a chocolate colouration and a thin black beak, in short a classic female Pied Flycatcher, but the sighting was so brief I cannot be 100%. The bird then disappeared
in the scrub below the willows, I view the sighting as only a probable, but it is well worth checking this area out.
A large female Sparrowhawk flew just above the trees near the road entrance to the park.
