This morning, started off very quiet, but got better as the morning went on, highlights -
1 Little Egret, dropped into the cattle drinking pool in Elton Goyt before being chased off by a Grey Heron. 1 Tree Pipit flew over Elton Goyt calling 2 Whinchat Elton Goyt 1 Wheatear Elton Goyt 1 Willow Tit canal 1 Raven over Reservoir very quiet, and so far a poor autumn for Spotted Flycatchers!
Scaup still present this morning, with 11 Tufteds.

Similar to you Ian, in a 3 hour slog all I could add were 4 Redstarts around Redstart Hedge area (see photo), also 1 Little Grebe on the reservoir, and that was about it.
Bit of a drama at Within's as one of the adult Grebes has gone down the outflow and was trapped on the tiny stream below, despite my efforts to catch it, it was last seen swimming off downstream towards Crow Trees. Despite walking the length of the stream to the canal, I could not relocate it. Hopefully it has carried on all the way to the Irwell and will be ok.

6.30-8.30 a.m. 3 Little Ringed Plover in front of boathouse and 1 Common Sandpiper, the only waders I saw, the only Ducks were Mallard(200+) and 1 Wheatear on the wall with a Spotted Flycatcher in hedge below. Cheers Ian

I arrived as Richard was leaving, couldn't see the Greenshank but did have; 1 Green Sandpiper, 3 Common Sandpiper, 3 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Gadwall and 8 Teal. In the hedgerows were 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 1 Garden Warbler, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff. Cheers Ian

Sorry Richard, Elton Goyt SBI is the official name for Old Hall Marsh, but is a slightly larger area than just the marsh itself, it extends towards Crow Trees Farm. Thought it was worth calling it by its official name from now on, but it is essentially the marsh and hedges, where you saw the Ring Ouzel in spring. Cheers, Simon

1 Little Egret 1 Ruff still present 1 Redshank 3 Common Sandpiper 3 Little Ringed Plover 4 Goosander 237 Mallard 5 Teal 5 Stock Dove 4 Water Rail 2 Willow Tit 9 Spotted Flycatcher (2 Spen Moor, 5 along hedges between Creek and Wader Point & 2 Elton Goyt). 4 Redstart (2 males at Withins & 2 at Elton Goyt) 1 Whinchat perched in Old Hall Farm marsh 1 Wheatear Elton Goyt 4 Yellow Wagtails (3 flew over heading south, and 1 dropped in near the highland cattle)
Little egret currently on old Hall marsh with a water rail calling close by along the canal.

0600-10:15 with ian and Malcolm of note 1 Ruff (photos attached ) 3 Yellow wagtail flew threw north.
1 Common Sandpiper 5 Little Ringed plover very active chasing each other 50+ Lapwings 10+ Swift 1 Tree pipit on wall side before flying towards highland cattle field. 1 Common Buzzard 1 Little Egret on River 1 Lesser Whitethroat in hedge below pumphouse. Ian C had a female Redstart in hedge near canal before it flew towards old hall farm .

Unfortunately the black tailed godwit did fly off, Well spotted though Steven.
Other things to note including greenshank at first light, lapwings, linnet, 2 little egrets still on the river, teal, gadwall, plenty of sand martins, house martins, swallows and swifts plus as noted earlier - drake common scoter, shoveler and common sandpiper.
