I read John's update and managed to get there on my bike I had passed here at about 3pm and stopped briefly to look at three Wigeon on the water, but didn't see the Pintail. There were also ten Pied Wagtails working the water's edge. There was no sign of these when I returned - just shows how quickly some of the birds move through here.

Church Lane Flood has more water than I have ever seen, but unfortunately, in very poor weather, held few birds and no waterfowl whatsoever. Surely better things to follow. The sum total was:
187 Black-headed Gulls (no Bonaparte's despite careful scrutiny. This is about 8 miles due east of Rostherne) 1 Common Gull 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls No waterfowl
Lesser black-backed gull hanging around the sheep carcass in the field opposite, along with 3 herring gulls.

If you turn into Blossoms Lane from Hall Moss Lane and walk about 100m, there is a large open field on your left, usually full of horses. There is a farm gate from which you can get a good view of the horse pond (despite being tiny, I think this is even marked on Google Maps). This little pond is great value for birding.
