Bryn Marsh,am visit 8.30 10.30 dragged away from Horrocks Flash but sustained by coffee and a pocketfull of raspberry ripples
heard only,Water rail,Buzzard and Cetti,s from the balcony coot,moorhen,shoveler,grey heron,sparrowhawk,mallard,great views of a perched kingfisher but the reed beds revealed nothing.

Started my day up in Wigan hoping to bag a Garganey reported yesterday. No luck with that, but lots of great birds anyway and really interesting to have a wander down the canal for the first time. Pearson's Flash Long-tailed Duck Cetti's Warbler Sedge Warbler showing really well singing Lesser Redpoll over Reed Warbler
Plenty of Blackcaps and Whitethroats. Also plenty of House Martins amongst the Swallows and Sand Martins
Horrocks Flash Kingfisher just before the railway bridge Common Tern 4 amongst many Black-headed Gull Lesser Redpoll really close to me on the towpath Willow Tit in the same tree

We went for a walk in the bright sun and warmth at Wigan Flashes. The highlights were several pairs of Great Crested Grebes, looking as if they were about to mate, then three buzzards overhead, and three house martins flying North.
