Long-tailed duck and at least 1 scaup still present at dusk. I was at the south east corner at 16:30, half an hour after sunset and there was a decent gathering of goosanders, certainly the biggest I have seen this year. They seemed to be flying in from all directions and peaked at 41 birds including at least 14 adult males. There was quite a lot of display taking place and they were chasing each other around in tight packed groups. Interestingly the long-tailed duck was also in amongst them, and in the attached photo is the second bird from the left. This is just part of the total, other birds flew in later but it was too dark to get any kind of photo. As it is, this photo was taken on 400 ISO at 1/20th second!

it swallows the fishing hook and line has it feeds then it regurgitates it when not feeding, thats why sometimes it seems to have no hook, but the line was still there yesterday.

This makes me so angry. Another consequence of the proliferation of (irresponsible) angling that the site has seen since the council disbanded the ranger service. Rant over, back to birds. Sorry.

Finnish-ringed Cormorant with metal ring bearing the inscription 'Museum Zoolog Helsinki, Finland' and something like 'RKW ring AR' which must relate to a ring size. Unfortunately the number could not be seen. I will e-mail Luomos the Finnish Ringing Centre at the Zoological Museum to let the know one of their birds was seen here.
