In our Hale garden this morning the feeders were very busy with the usual Great, Blue and Coal Tits, Nuthatch, Robin, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Goldfinch and Greenfinch - the latter quite rare for us these days.
Best of all, our first Bramblings of the year - reasonably sure there were two females and a male

A good morning in Woodsmoor, Stockport. A pair of Bullfinches fed on lilac seeds six feet from my bedroom window. An adult male Sparrowhawk popped into the garden, and didn't eat anything. I found a male Blackcap in a hedge just over the road on my morning dog walk. I'm ready for a Waxwing or two now (please).

A few moments ago I had a pair of robins on my garden fence. One flew onto the feeder and instead of just taking a seed and flying off, this one took quite a bit and flew off over the fence. The second robin followed the first. I began to wonder if the mild weather (for this time of year) might have tricked them into breeding, as when I visit my mother's, there's a pair of magpie nest building in a tree opposite her house.

Highlight this morning was a maximum of 11 (5 on the feeding station, 6 on lawn beneath) goldfinches. They were doing well until a magpie came along & succeeded in spooking not only the goldfinches, but also itself (as the goldfinches flew off in panic, the magpie picked up on the panic & itself flew off)!!
