Willow Tit at 2.30pm on the peanuts in the back garden. Garden backs onto the Mersey Valley approx 50yds SE of Chorlton Water Park. First sighting of it this year.

Siskins high count over 45 this morning and at least 17 Bramblings. Also a pair of Bullfinch and a single Redpoll.
It's costing a fortune in feed.

Just had a female Sparrowhawk in the garden eating a pigeon a few yards away from the conservatory, got some cracking pics. Cat came and scared it away before she had finished her meal.

Male Blackcap seen regularly this last week in our garden in Lowercroft Bury. Eating sunflower hearts (downing in one) and fat balls. Very aggressive, seeing off the goldfinches, chaffinches, blue tits and dunnocks etc.

Siskin's have been a regular visiter everyday now for the past 2 weeks or so, in fact I question whether they leave or not as there seems to be at least one on the feeders whenever I look.
in addition to the Siskin there are 6 - 7 Goldfinch 2 Greenfinch 5 Chaffinch Maximum of 8 House Sparrow's Plus all the usual.

You're lucky Mike.I had regular Blackcap visits last year;[that was a female too].However,none this winter so far. I did have an interesting encounter today with Long-tailed Tits [which regularly visit my garden feeders].I have a small water container on the balcony just outside my kitchen window,and they were using it today.I have never seen them so close;[I was having breakfast at the time!]

A tawny owl just landed on the street lamp in front of my house in Harwood, Bolton. The street lamp is in my lawn edge so is technically in my garden. It was spooked by a cat and flew off over my house.

Another first for my Horwich garden this afternoon with a House Sparrow on the feeders being the first I've seen in the 11 years in the house. So at last it sits on my garden list alongside Kingfisher & Dipper

Picked a good day to be off work when the first blackcap (A male) of the winter turned up. Great. Also of note, 5 redpoll, 2 siskins, the odd goldfinch and 2 long-tailed tits. Nearby on Sunfield estate, I heard the first skylark overflying since winter began. Spring is around the corner.
A very busy Goldcrest taking insects from a tall conifer in our Hale garden this morning. Great, Blue and Coal Tits, Nuthatch, Chaffinch, Bullfinch pair, 1 Greenfinch and 3 Siskin on the feeders.

Other than that there have been the usual numbers of Goldfinch, Chaffinch and about 8 House Sparrows. Also 1 Greenfinch.
