There was a male Ring ouzel on the turf farm at the end of Moss Lane (opposite Moss Lodge Farm) around 5.30pm this evening. Also four Wheatear on the adjoining plough.
Ps.the reason I can't find many chiffchaff!/ willow warbler is my right ear is blocked and isn't working so its very hard to find the true direction of their singing. Note : the FOOT crossing over the railway to the Chat Moss peat works will be closed for maintenance from 3rd May until 10th May (Not the level crossing on Rindle rd).

I spent almost 3 hours there today and was told of 2 reports, 1personally, of the Great Grey Shrike being seen on Croxden Peat works but I didn't see it either. There were 4 Wheatear around 11am on the Peat Works and a Curlew, Willow Warbler, 2 Gadwall and 2 Oystercatchers. Also 3 Sand Martin and 2 Swallow through. So could still be around. The way the wind was blowing it could have moved over the Railway towards Rindle Cottages. Good to see Dave Steel today too!

Parked at Rindle Cottages and walked across the footway over the railway to see the old peat works nicely flooded in part with promising scrapes here and there this afternoon. I didn't spend much time there as I was on my way to 12 yards rd for the Shrike , but did see :- Oystercatcher - 2 . Lapwing - 6. Buzzard - 2. Pied Wagtail - c10
Later after checking where I actually was on my phone in regards to 12 yards rd I looked up to see the Great Grey Shrike sat on a telephone wire Infront of me (3:15pm) I was joined later by other birders inc. Steve Burke who re-found it after I left . Of note on way back ...... Lapwing - 22 . Stock dove - 14. Skylark - 5. All in field rear of Rindle Cottages/ railway line.

Managed to refind the Great Grey Shrike just off 12 Yards Road this afternoon. It showed well for the half hour I spent watching it,hunting mainly from the fenceposts around the field just south of 12 Yards Road, and flying into the field presumably catching insects/beetles.It was still present when I left at 3.30pm.It was hunting around the field immediately south of the road about 400yds down 12 Yards Road from the junction with Astley Street,it's the first field on the rhs that has fencing all round it.Excellent find Dave.
