It Had to be done...a journey...a pilgrimage to view the continuing and seemingly unstoppable demise of the wildlife/wildlife habitat we as birdwatchers must endure...
I knew that 'Port Barton' (the POWER that seems to rule my patch deem that it is known as Port Salford) 'Brownfield Area' was one day to be bulldozed...it had recently occurred but I was reluctant to visit...reluctant to subject my rheumy eyes to an outflowing of tears but it HAD to be done...
Positives did populate my wander
1 Kingfisher

2 Nuthatch
2 Treecreeper
2 Goldcrest
17 Little Grebe
57 Gadwall
2 Great Crested Grebe

Then the area where even now Sedge Warbler/Grasshopper Warbler/Whitethroat/Willow Warbler are no doubt starting their long haul journeys to this their breeding site was to my eye a Bulldozed Desert...who knows where the Wren/Dunnock/Blackbird/Bullfinch and many more 'resident' birds fled to...do they simply fade into worthless dust...a recent interchange on Facebook wrt habitat loss gained a retort...its only a few birds 'we are more important than ANYTHING' being the implication by this person
I retreated from this latest grandiose scheme whereby warehouses galore will I guess be mostly filled with things we don't need...destined for landfill somewhere...but as my FB critic implies...this is what is important and nature can go to hell...
If you read this diatribe may I suggest two pieces of music to 'enhance' the mood
Mozart Requiem ...the Lachrymose
