One for John and Rob, you guys are there regularly.
Yesterday at approx 8.35am en-route to Liverpool and then again on way back approx 2pm I saw a very pale Buzzard flying over the north side of the M62 drifting towards the Birchwood junction. It was very pale with limited darkish flecks underneath and reminded me of a Rough-legged plumage, but with no view of the upper side I cant further the ID and quick views whilst driving (for obvious safety reasons) means it remains a Common Buzzard.
Please tell me there is a very pale Common Buzzard in the area. Thanks.
Yes many pale ,white and Grey Buzzards around area but all still Common Buzzard
Thanks John, I knew it was always likely to be a Common, I knew youd know if there was one of similar colouration around there.
Am of note
45 wigeon (highest count for me this winter),38 gadwall,1 Great crested Grebe, 1 pochard .
Thursday Lunch.
Willow Tits (2) by site proposed for motorway services.
Three Kestrel in different locations.
Singing skylarks (3 or 4) over the old tip, spring is on the way....
Buzzard, Greenfinch, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Redwing, Song Thrush around the site. Flock of Siskin (60+) in the alders by Silver Lane Lakes.
Pochard, Gadwall, Wigeon, Goosander, Mallard, Coot, Tufted Duc, Black-headed Gull and a single Common Gull across the pools.
A flock of 67 Lapwing were joint by a flock of 40+ Starling, quite unusual to see both birds in the same flock I thought.
