This afternoon till dark
Irlam & Chat Mosses: 21 Whooper Swans - 5 in f16. (3 adults & 2 juv) then a flock of 16 flew from the north circled and descended as though they were looking for somewhere to settle but then decided not to and then headed back north again. 6 Snipe over in fading light 14 Fieldfare 4 Goldcrest 3 Long-tailed Tit 1 Kestrel 1 Buzzard 1 Lapwing 1 Lesser Redpoll 1 Meadow Pipit

Circular walk from the Raven inn, along Glaze Brook, around Little Woolden Moss and
return via White Gate Farm.
Groups of 30 Teal and 54 Mallard on Glaze Brook plus 1 Grey Heron and a pair of Mute Swans.
Little Woolden Moss appeared devoid of birds apart from around a dozen Carrion Crows.
3 Ravens were over the turf fields South the moss.
2000+ Starlings swirled over the farmland just North of the mossland.
Also around these fields were 2 Kestrels, 3 Buzzards, a covey of 7 Grey Partridges, 3 Linnets,
2 Yellowhammers, 2 Meadow Pipits plus a huge mixed flock of Woodpigeons and Stock Doves.
