Unfortunately, there is no longer a feeding station off Rindle Road Nigel, hasn’t been for a good while now and as a result there are far fewer sparrows and buntings around I’m afraid.

The ringtail Hen Harrier was still present on Barton Moss today, but mid-afternoon flew west towards Croxdens.
Fields between the River Glaze and LWM reserve : 3 Buzzards, 2 Grey Partridges and a very nervous flock of 170 Lapwings.
Apart from crows, 8 Mallards and a few passing Black Headed Gulls the only other birds seen on the mossland reserve were singles of Oystercatcher
and Reed Bunting. A flock of around 60 Chaffinches was along the Southern boundary of the moss, by the path leading from Moss Road.

Believe it or not but it was not raining when I set out, did'nt stay dry for long though.
Area around Little Woolden Hall : 30 Redwings amongst a similar number of Starlings and 2 Oystercatchers.
Little Woolden Moss : 1 female/immature Marsh Harrier, 1 Buzzard, 1 Snipe, 1 Song Thrush and 1 Raven.
2 Robins were sat together on the same small branch near the former hide site and seemed perfectly happy in each others
company, so they had to be an established couple, these birds are very intolerant of one another otherwise.
A flock of around 60 Chaffinches were along the Eastern perimeter of the reserve, but no Bramblings were found amongst them.
Large numbers of Woodpigeons and Lapwings were being constantly spooked on farmland by Astley Road, but I could not see what was upsetting them.
A further 6 Lapwings appeared to be setting up territories on the turf fields south of the reserve.
