Saw this on Sat 23rd May, is this just a Sanderling? Looking at my bird books it more closely resemble a Little Stint, which are rare here I know. Any help identifying would be helpful!
Thanks,
Robin

I thought this might be of interest to the Audenshaw regulars.
In the the local free paper (The Advertiser) this week there is an article saying that United Utilities are going to lower the water level in the reservoir closest to most of the houses (probably the North Eastern one) and chemically spray the embankment to reduce the midges. It doesn't say what the chemical is. There is a public meeting at 6.30 pm on the 8th April at Ryecroft Hall, Audenshaw.

The flies on Audi are not the biting type. Honest!
They are of course a good source of food for migrants such as the Wheatears, not to mention Swallows, etc too. No flies, no birds.
Just wait til May comes and you get clouds of the things, looks like mist ahead of you over the paths. Something to look forward to!

Use a fly repellant with Deet in it. It is usually in so called Jungle formula. Do not get it in your eyes or ingest it, but it works. All the bugs scarper.
