Hi David, Kestrels and Sparrowhawks are seen regularly. There has been sightings of Osprey and Hobby this year. It's not unusual to see a Buzzard here. Raven is also a possibility.
Best access is from Beaumont Road. If you're coming from Chorley new road end(lodge on your right) go past the lodge and turn round in the Hotel entrance road. As you head back to the top of the brow there is a stile next to a farm gate entrance. It's not easy to see but there is a blue cycle lane sign right next to it. You can park in the entrance. Go over the stile and follow the tree line down to the lodge. As you aproach the water stay in the cover of the trees that obscure the islands. Once you break cover everything takes off.
Cheers Dean.

What birds of prey have been seen at the Lodge?
Had my first walk round the other day and saw a large raptor on a fence post. It left before I got the binoculars on it (basically we saw each other from a distance), but it was probably buzzard sized, but in body shape was more like a hawk.
Any thoughts?
Separate question, what's the best access to the site?
