Second time lucky this lunchtime after no joy on Friday morning. Distant but in full view at the top of the poplars in the Prep School grounds.
Also two small skeins of pink-footed geese 8 and 24 birds overhead.
I'd like to add my thanks to the original finder.

Tried again today. None of last night's forecast sun but at least it didn't rain. More birders seem to be turning up (about 20) which appeared to make the Rose-coloured Starling a little nervous as the 4 visits to the aerials/roof top were only short ones. It did linger, preening, on top of the nearby Lombardy Poplar allowing more distant photos.
Just to add to Doc Brewsters comments about the local residents. Whilst waiting yesterday for the bird with a fellow birder, a friendly resident came out to chat and asked if we would like cup of tea! Good old northern hospitality.
We also had great views of the bird on a tv aerial near to the Forest school.

Made the short 17mile drive to Timperley for c.9am this morning and wasn't disappointed. Withing about 15mins of arrival the juvenile Rose-coloured Starling showed on TV aerials in it's usual area. The weather was horrid, but there are areas where you can shelter under overhanging trees & keep pretty dry. Quite a few folk were there, lots of birding pals, some of whom had been there for at least an hour and a half before it showed. Maybe arriving bewteen 8.30am-10am would be a good tactic for future visitors. Everyone who was there and who arrived whilst I was there had views of the bird, I volunteered up my scope for anyone who hadn't seen it yet or had only used bins and everyone got decent views. We all kept out of the way and got no adverse reaction at all from residents at all, quite the opposite with a few friendly enquiries asking if we had seen the bird yet. (low res handheld phonescoped record shot attached)

The rose-coloured starling showed well eventually, high up in a poplar tree in Forest Preparation School for a while, then later on aerials. At all times it was associating with starlings, though often when they flew it remained behind.
Juvenile Rose-coloured Starling present again in the Moss Lane area again this morning, on one occasion with Starlings in a poplar in the grounds of Forest Preparation School.
It is essential that any visiting birders park carefully and considerately and also consider their actions in such a residential area.

A couple of decent solo shows by the Starling this afternoon between 12.30 and 1.30 on aerials near Wellington School for Gary Crowder, Phil Kelly and myself plus a flyover in between. Another good bit of 'bus pass birding' .....and a swarm of very colourful Manchester BEES to round out the afternoon.

Tried to get my 1st all-timer rose coloured starling with my mother. We covered everything and unfortunately it was a no-show. Somewhat disappointing after 2 1/2 hours of effort but that's the way it goes sometimes. Sadly I won't be making another attempt - so will wait for a different future opportunity. Ta!

Nice views of the juvenile rose-coloured starling this morning around 9.10am then seen in flight coming from a playing field on willow bank around 9.40am. Also in the general area... Common buzzard 4 ring-necked parakeets Several redwings.
Cracking views of the Rosy Starling this morning at about 9.45. If flew in on its own and sat on an aerial for 15-20 minutes. In usual area. Photo opportunities pretty bad - the light was awful. Shame really, because the view we had was great.

Nice to meet the finder of the Rose-coloured Starling (whats with this ghastly Rosy Starling nonsense?) and his wife this morning. They pulled up in their car for a chat. Apparently it can hold its own and is very aggressive so maybe it goes elsewhere when not at their feeders. Its been around for weeks he said so it must be in the area when not in the garden. Im unable to go again for a few days so good luck all. Im sure it will be seen elsewhere.

Spent around 2 and a half hours this morning looking for the rosy starling but no joy for us, most of the time watching the playing fields along Willow Bank, plenty of starlings moving around there; Anyway glad it's still around so we will be back in the morning for another go.

A juvenile ROSE-COLOURED STARLING has been visiting a domestic garden with a Starling flock since 8th October (seen again today) though is predominantly seen between 8-9am when mealworms are placed out and is very rarely seen thereafter.
As the observer’s street is very small and quiet (along with other understandable reasons) he has asked for its location not be divulged but the bird is in the general area of Moss Lane/Wellington School, so any Starling flocks or likely areas around here should be checked.
Photos of the bird are on the website.

Grasshopper Warbler heard from Whitebeam Close reeling at 2.30 a.m. today and again intermiitently from 9.30 p.m. It's presumably in the disused field adjacent to the footpath btwn Brooks Drive and Fairywell Wood. Whitethroat on territory here too.

The snow and ice brought a few bit n bobs. The horse field next to Whitebeam Close had 4 Lapwings and 4 Meadow Pipits - 1 of the latter sp was also seen in the estate, running across the road by the junction of Bowness Rd/Alder Drive! A Yellowhammer made a brief appearance, seen in the hedge bordering Whitebeam Close. A roving flock of c. 15 fieldfare were also flying into the estate to feed on fallen crab apples, and at one point appeared in the back garden by the kitchen window and started to eat some fake holly berries on a wreath in a real ornamental potted holly bush, before they could be shooed off and the wreath removed! They disappeared again the first day of the thaw.

Very approx 200 Pink Footed Geese heading east/ESE ish over Fairywell Wood, Timperley at 12.10 pm. Took a while to pick them out so only a rough guesstimate. 10 mins later a Mistle Thrush was singing somewhere to the south for a minute or two; my first singing bird of the season (excluding one near Sagres 2 weeks ago).
