The sluice gates just down from Jackson's Boat were partially opened this afternoon, and will be kept open overnight. Downstream, the river is just c.1 foot from the top of the arch of the canal bridge, though I have seen it higher in years ago. The inflow of river water has flooded most of the wood / scrub down from the sluice, and about half of the old cricket field was underwater by the time I left at dusk. The inflow into the lake has brought a lot of silt and debris, and the lake level is slowly rising. The swans and most of the Coot scattered across the lake as the brown tide spread. Will be interesting to see how things develop. Car parks are closed, which is great.

Monday 18th - Wednesday 20th January
