Georges Lane (Wilderswood to Lancs border) : 4 Stonechats, 1 Mistle Thrush, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 3 Ravens,
1 Meadow Pipit and 8 Jays.
Burnt Edge : A flock of 24 Meadow Pipits by the plantation, but then I gave up counting them as numerous small flocks emerged from
the surrounding moorland throughout my walk, and many more skulked in the vegetation. At one point a male Kestrel flying towards
Adams Hill plunged into a patch of sedge and immediately a Meadow Pipit popped out, followed by the unsuccessful falcon. At which
point a cloud of Meadow Pipits emerged from the moor and fled towards the quarry. Also seen along Burnt Edge were 6 Stonechats and 4 Ravens.
Just to prove that you can't always class an arboreal pipit as a Tree Pipit, a number of the Meadow Pipits sought sanctuary in the tops of trees
and stayed there for quite a while too.
