Bit difficult to count in the tree there in but possibly 62 birds present. They are near the Farnworth end of Plodder Lane, just down from the Canary pub, park carefully only on same side as the berry tree or round the corner near the Canary pub, close viewing is possible and the tree still has two thirds of the berries left. They ate a third yesterday!
Suspect these may be the last we get in Bolton this winter so enjoy while you can.

The 40 Waxwings were great to see and it was nice to meet up with Melanie Beckford and view them together on Drummond street, opposite Asda, at the side of the bowling green. Went with Janice for a walk up Barrow Bridge near the 63 steps to see if there was any Dippers! No luck but Tits, a Wren and a couple of Robins knocking about. Then on to Smithills Hall, enjoyed watching a Kestrel from close range sat at the end of a branch watching the field for grub. We then checked out the area within Turton Tower grounds and had a great view of a GS Woodpecker, otherwise quiet. Waxwings seen again in silver birch tree outside Topps Tiles on Crompton Way on our way back approx 4pm

Thank God I told one of the neighbours that the area may get some attention over the next few days. The Fieldfares that I saw chased the Waxwings off and they flew into the larger tree more or less next to it. The Waxwings did not mind me standing under the tree. They appear very tame.

As you drive up Cheapside the tree is at the top of the road on the left, just before the road goes down hill. Park round the corner to the right, a guy was photographing them from just about under the tree, we watched from the pavement about 5 yards away !!!. I counted 45 plus the 2 Mistle Thrushes, didn't see any fieldfare.
Hope this helps.

up to 47 at Cheapside? I managed to count 38 last Thursday. Looks like this is a good place for them and will probably be for a while. They have probably been there for just under 2 weeks and plenty of yellow berries still. When I saw the Waxwings there were 4 Fieldfares controlling the tree, I had not seen any Mistle Thrushes.

Still there in Middleton at noon, although they were chased off for a while to the local park by a sparrowhawk, they returned to the same tree despite valiant attempts by 2 thrushes to chase them off. The feeding tree is still full of yellow berries.

Always helps really, St Michaels School Field is adjacent to William Wroe Golf Course. You can get to it either off Church Road Urmston, or come down Mile Road from Carrington to the BP garage and turn right down the side of it that takes you down until you are facing the field in question. Parking is quite tight but, if you want you can stick it outside Number 34 last one on the right from the BP garage or even on the drive if its empty and i will tell her indoors its OK....... Sorry but we really dont know where they went or where they came from

Seen 38 Waxwings in total today in Middleton at 4pm. First time I have seen Waxwings and then to see 38 together. They were at Cheapside (street name) m24 6dg, just past the "Kids klub" on the corner of Fielding Street. You cant drive down Fielding Street.
There is a tree full of yellow berries and they try to eat them but its guarded by Fieldfares. The Fieldfares start trilling really aggressively and drive off the Waxwings. I saw 4 Fieldfares although there must have been more around.
The Waxwings must have been present from at least 1.30pm as I heard the Fieldfares trilling and what I thought was a flock of Starlings originally. At 4pm I decided to have a closer look at what I thought were Starlings and as I got close to them, you could not miss their Mohican style hair cuts. At first there were 33 present and when they would go to the berry tree, the Fieldfares went berserk and the Waxwings flew into a tree close by. This happened quite a few times. 5 more Waxwings joined the 33.
As I stood staring a lady who lived in the area mentionned those birds have been making a noise for a couple of days, meaning the Fieldfares. I told her that the Fieldfares and Waxwings were both migrants and she mentionned she had noticed those birds (Waxwings) for a couple of days too.
Maybe theres some sort of turf war between the Fieldfares and Waxwings over the yellow berries?
