Another cold afternoon on Audenshaw today, my feet have just about recovered
More water visible, fewer ducks
Gadwall pair in middle of no 2 on ice Tufteds pair Goldeneye, didn't count, but about 36 again Goosander 4 Mallard arrived when I was there 5 Coot 8 Canada Geese dropped in
A decent sized Gull roost considering, some bathing in the water
20+ Herring Gull 10+ GBB Gull 50+ LBB Gull c5,000 Common and Black Headed Gulls, several of the Black Headeds with almost complete hoods.
More Gulls arriving as I was leaving at 1600

10:00--11:45 Only three bits of water left on No1.
Goldeneye - 9 Pochard - 2 Coot - 6 (I think the others from early Dec have moved to Gorton Lower Res, where I counted 27 in the only bit of water left at 12:00) GBB gull - 8 (6 ad + 2 juv) LBB gull - 12 Herring gull - 2 BH + Com gulls - c250
First time not seen grebes and tufties at Audenshaw.

Still lots of ice on the resrs to varying degrees, consequently not a lot of anything

Is it possible to see the Slavonian Grebe here without needing a permit or keys? I've never been to Audenshaw Reservoirs before and it seems there's a waiting list until March for the permits.

1 Slav. grebe - showing well on NE pool of the reservoir 1 Yellow legged gull - within gull roost on NE pool, a friendly birder let me have a look at it through his scope which nice! 5 goosander - on NE pool
My first time there, great birding spot.

Slav Grebe had a Great Crested as a companion 6 Goldeneye 17 Coot c25 Lapwing flying around no 1 as I was leaving, seemed to fly off west over no 3
Poor light for looking at Gulls tonight, although it was quite spectacular when they all took flight

after an extensive search of number one for the slavonian grebe, it popped up out of the water about 10 yards from the bank right in front of me, after about a minute it dived again and disappeared completely.
2 pied wagtails 4 goosander which flew off heading east straight over our heads.
plenty of gulls on but too much sun to make any particular details out.

Slavonian Grebe still on No 1 'though mobile. 11.0am - 2.30pm 1 Pochard (m) 2 Cormorants. No sign of Common Scoter though light was near impossible on No2 so could still be present
