Female Brambling just visited ours and next doors garden, didn't see it visiting the feeders it was just picking around the trees. Only one seen this winter.
Some other visitors from the past autumn/winter period. Good numbers of Greenfinch max c45 but regularly c30. Goldfinch max 24 regularly around 10. Chaffinch max 4 but think there are at least double this visiting with one a particularly sad sight having virtually no legs due to the effects of the white infection (not sure what its called), reduced to bumping along branches and hovering at the feeder, seems healthy otherwise. Siskin have been visiting for 2 or 3 weeks now, max 3. Nuthatch max 2, seen almost daily. Great Spotted Woodpecker 1 female has been regular throughout, a male turned up with the female this week. Goldcrest not many sightings, 2 together a couple of times. Long-tailed Tit a pair have been coming to fats since January. Coal Tit max 2 but probably more around. Great Tit max 3, ditto Blue Tit max 4, ditto Robin 2, starting to display recently, quite striking to see. House Sparrow max 13, regularly around 8. Starling 2 or 3 daily, max 30. Blackbird 3 Redwing 2, regular during early period when holly berries available. Dunnock 3. Wren. Treecreeper 1 seen on 2 occasions. Jay seen once Magpie max 4, occasional visitors. Jackdaw max 7, 2 regular but becoming more numerous. Sparrowhawk seen 2 times Kestrel, a real odd one that. Collared Dove 4 Woodpigeon 2 Feral Pigeon max 24, virtually ever present in these numbers, better than the heavy roller at Lords.
Feel very lucky to be able to work from home a fair bit and keep an eye on the comings and goings.

First different bird seen in our garden for a good while just passed through and quite a surprise it was, although not a scarce bird. A male Kestrel made a rapid stoop at something in the park opposite, possibly a Blackbird as one shot away from the area at a rate of knots. The Kestrel then flew through the bars of the park railings (thought Sparrowhawks were specialists at this) and into our garden, it perched briefly just over next doors fence. The feeders have been very quiet today so maybe this bird has been hanging around all day, Sparrowhawks are infrequent but not uncommon visitors here, the garden birds tend to be absent when they appear but soon come back once the hawks have moved off, today has been a little different in that respect so possibly the unusual activity of the falcon has unsettled the locals.
I don't count any birds seen above roof level for the garden list, Peregrine, Buzzard and a possible Red Kite have all flown over but I have never seen a Kestrel flying over, more than likely because I wasn't looking but still very pleased with this brief visit.

Perhaps the only area of garden interest in this non-winter (where if you have a pond in your garden, you've probably been as likely to receive a visit from a great northern diver than, say, a redwing), has been noting the survival of birds with plumage characteristics. Since autumn, my garden has been visited by a blue tit with a white tail feather (part azure tit I try to convince myself), and also a 'scruffy' looking coal tit which has a darker underside, looking like it has always just been bathing. So far, they are both still going strong after three months or more. I wonder have any other contributors been able to pick out birds with notable characteristics which have stuck around all winter?

Siskins also the highlight currently in my Chorlton garden - previously a once-a-year treat, we've had increasing numbers every day since last weekend, with around 25 today (including one which unfortunately fell prey to either the local Sparrowhawk or one of the neighbour's cats).
We've also had 3-5 Lesser Redpoll coming in with them, 4 Bullfinch (at least), a couple of Chaffinch and Nuthatch and the regular pair of Great Spotted Woodpecker, along with the usual suspects. Being eaten out of house and home!
