A nice morning potter about 10am-1pm
Highlights include: 3 water rails (with one sharming out in the open) 1 little grebe 11 Teal (split between the canal area and the main ras) 7 Scaups 1 Goosander (f) 1 Goldeneye (f) 1 Snipe 1 little egret 1 Grey wagtail A Lapwing was heard but not seen

15:00-16:15pm no sign of any tufted ducks or Scaup on Elton but could have gone onto Within like yesterday when the boats were out. 11 Teal 2f 9m in Creek. 1 Shoveler female. 5 Goosander. 1 Little Grebe. 14 Common Gulls. 1 Great black backed Gull. 2 Little Egret being mobile.
Feeders. 1 Brambling. 2 Bullfinch. 1 Willow tit. A Long tailed tit with a very pale head but did have some markings on it.

Highlights of a morning circuit 8.30 to 11.10:
7 Scaup, 4 Goldeneye and 2 Goosander on the reservoir.
1 Pink-footed Goose with the Canada Geese, 2 Teal and 1 Little Egret on Old Hall Marsh.
1 Oystercatcher.
3 Little Grebe, 1 on the reservoir and 2 on the river.
1 Sparrowhawk.
8 Great Black- backed Gull dropped in with c80 Herring Gull just as I was leaving.

Around 2pm Wednesday.
One pink footed goose in the midst of Canada geese. Goose was smaller than Canada, small beak with black tip, white rump.

most of the reservoir was frozen with only a couple of pockets of open water. Some of the Mute Swans were clearly struggling
on the 2 small patches of open water
Little Grebe 4 Great Crested Grebe 13 Shoveler 6 Gadwall ( 5 on withins) 2 Goldeneye 70 Tufted duck most flushed by a dog going into the water. A male was in bad shape out on the ice and looked like a victim of a peregrine strike 5 Scaup 25 Teal withins Pink-footed Goose 2 Brambling Peregrine Sparrowhawk Kestrel
there was also a sign of cold weather movement with an increase in Lawping with 11 Old harm Farm, 15 Crow tree Farm, 5 Withins and 16 south along with 4 Skylark south

My little wonderings this morning from 10am to 1:30pm
Highlights include:
Gadwall Teal Goldeneye Scaup Grey wagtail Little egret Lesser redpoll And brambling (2f and 1m)
Of which the latter was showing well for about half an hour when I arrived at the feeders because they were ice eating on the branches. You'll have to wait for the pictures on Flickr for Friday I'm afraid!

7 Scaup, 4 Goldeneye and 2 Goosander on the reservoir.
1 Pink-footed Goose with the Canada Geese, 2 Teal and 1 Little Egret on Old Hall Marsh.

3 Little Grebe, 1 on the reservoir and 2 on the river.

most of the reservoir was frozen with only a couple of pockets of open water. Some of the Mute Swans were clearly struggling
on the 2 small patches of open water
