a quick hour this morining, a few pied wagtails, a single white wag, quite a few redshank, two little ringing plovers, lots of oystercatchers and a single male in great plumage dunlin, good job simon caught that one while we were chatting,

15.30 - as this morning plus: 2 LR Plover 1 male Wheatear
Highlight was a pair of Mediterranean Gulls in full summer plumage, Phil could hear one calling then we soon located them flying in and they then settled with some displaying & bathing on the shoreline.
Also male Wheatear, Redshank, 13 Oystercatcher & Buzzard.

This early afternoon:
12 Oystercatcher 1 Redshank 24 Black-tailed Godwit- flew noisily in at 12:10 possibly from the east. They were very agitated and only stayed two minutes before flying off noisily NW (more WNW really!).
Had a chat with farmer Stan Terry. About a week ago he found a dead Barn Owl in one of his fields.

2.00-2.30pm just starting to snow. Water still 85% frozen, no signs of the teal today.
90+ lapwings on ice plus 200+ bh gull buzzard on a post 30+ jackdaw

10.15-11.45 with Steve Almond Lake now 100% frozen, even the teal have deserted.
buzzard 100+ lapwings 20+ mixed flock of fieldfare and redwing with a couple of mistle thrush a few long tailed tits, great tit and chaffinch 100+ bh gull on ice with one lbb gull snipe a few crows and magpies

2.30-3.00pm Reservoir 99% frozen today (ice free yesterday) the only small ice free patch being kept open by the teal.
70+ teal 30+bh gull plus 1 lbb 40 starling 25+ lapwings plus a few carrion crow and magpie scavaging on the ice.

The water level is being maintained at the present level while work is carried out on the dam. I believe they are injecting concrete into areas that they suspect are leaking.
