Managed to get out for a bit, knee still not fully right though!
Highlights include:
Goosander 1f Goldeneye 1m Pochard 2m Gadwall 2m + 1f Wigeon 3m Teal 3m 1f 6 scaups 2m 4f Common scoter 1m Mediterranean gull Water rail (in flight) Lapwings Oystercatcher A few skylarks Redwing in song A number of Fieldfare singing and feeding on the grass, they certainly look very striking in their plumage now! Won't be long now before they all depart. Song thrush Brambling female showed and posed well, she is likewise looking quite striking in summer plumage. Unfortunately, I couldn't stand around much longer to wait for the reported 2 males.

Had the best contender we have had all year for a Yellow legged gull this afternoon as we were watching the Avocet. Me and Steve higginbottom were both alerted to it at the same time from opposite sides of the res by its destincted call. It had bright yellow legs , lighter mantle than the lesser blacked back it was next to. Sloping forehead, long primaries past tail, red orbital ring with clear yellow iris ect.... still not 100% but its definatly an intresting gull

The Iceland gull turned up at exactly 4,25pm and flew off West with most of the larger gulls at 5,10pm. There was also a very flighty and very vocal Adult Mediterranean gull constantly flying on and off the res for the duration of my visit.

4,20pm - 5,30pm. Luckily the Iceland gull stayed for over an hour this time alowing me time to rush there from Lowercroft where I was when Steve text me. It still stayed out over 100 meters away from us but managed some record shots with my p1000.
I also had a single Sand martin on the res at 2,30pm

Afternoon visit with Martin Loftus. There was a Ringed Common Gull which was seen by me Last year in January 2018 and the information I received then was, Ringed 06/07/2016 Statoil Forus, Stavanger, Rogaland, Norway. The Common gull was also reported at Elton Reservoir in previous winters by Roger Halsey. Photos attached today photo by Martin Loftus and a screenshot of my photo from Jan 2018. Both showing the rings. Nice to know its still returning to Elton Reservoir each year.
This mornings highlights with Malcolm included, 7 Scaup, 1 Pochard, 5 Goldeneye, 1 Gadwall and a Kingfisher on the res. 2 Peregrine on 2nd pylon in front of boathouse (one feeding). 1 Water Rail seen and another heard at canal. 1 Buzzard near crow trees. 4,20pm - 5,30pm. Luckily the Iceland gull stayed for over an hour this time alowing me time to rush there from Lowercroft where I was when Steve text me. It still stayed out over 100 meters away from us but managed some record shots with my p1000.
I also had a single Sand martin on the res at 2,30pm

There was a Ringed Common Gull which was seen by me Last year in January 2018 and the information I received then was, Ringed 06/07/2016 Statoil Forus, Stavanger, Rogaland, Norway.
The Common gull was also reported at Elton Reservoir in previous winters by Roger Halsey. Photos attached today photo by Martin Loftus and a screenshot of my photo from Jan 2018. Both showing the rings.
Nice to know its still returning to Elton Reservoir each year.
