weston street flock present at 2.30 -315 bolton. still there when we left. very flighty today probably due to the sparrowhawk attacking and chasing them this also meant that the birds ate berries in the middle of the tree and the visits to eat were very brief. this area is very busy traffic wise however the berries are still in good supply.

today between 1.30pm and 2.30 pm waxwings in the grounds of the driving test centre, weston street bolton. the trees behind the palisade fencing are full of berries. the birds were in a flock of approx 25-30. the taller trees in the area provide a perching place, then the birds drop down to feed intermittently. excellent views down to 2-3 feet, very confiding birds in a very busy area. the birds took flight after a pesky sparrowhawk started to glide around . still good quantity of berries left.! these birds are stunning!!

At least 50 waxwings in trees of First depot, possibly as many as 70 (little groups moving in and out so hard to get a accurate count).
One thrush determinedly defending all the trees full of fruit from them, and the starlings.
Same spot, about 11am today (24th). 10-12 waxwings. Very obliging, they were actually down drinking from puddles on the road and allowed me within about 6 feet. Unfortunately I didn't have camera with me.
Still plenty of fruit and one very angry thrush, so I suspect they'll be there a while yet.
