Afternoon/evening visit.
1 little gull 1 Mediterranean gull 6 gadwall 4 teal, old Hall marsh 1 wheatear, in small field next to withins 44 tufted duck on withins 1 goosander 1 little egret, old Hall marsh 150+ sand Martins 1 swallow, went straight through 1 willow warbler 5 chiffchaff 1 blackcap 2 kestrels 1 buzzard 5 water rails calling along the canal in just one small area whilst another was calling in old Hall marsh, 2 gave full but brief views. 2 oystercatchers 1 kingfisher on river

Little gull still here, but be warned as the boats are currently out! Gulls are flighty because of.

This a.m. couldn't fine yesterdays Scoter. 1000+ Sand Martin over Elton with another 300 over Withins, an amazing spectacle, also 5 House Martin and 12 Swallow. Peregrine flew over causing all the Martins to rise and 1 Little Ringed Plover near the creek. Cheers Ian

Afternoon visit 14.20 to 17.00 with the best being:
Scoter, Gadwall and 5 Teal on the reservoir.
1 Little Ringed Plover.
Only 600 Sand Martin with at least 7 Swallow and 5 House Martin. An impressive sight!
Adult Mediterranean Gull.
2 Brambling, 1 Siskin and 1 Willow Tit on the feeders.
Blackcap 2 singing males and another seen silently in scrub Chiffchaff at least 3 singing

Sand Martin increased to over 400 about 10:00 Swallow at least 2 near boat house
Feeders Brambling 2 different males (black face / hood) and a female Nuthatch 1 Willow Tit 1 unringed Siskin female Ad grey heron stalking about under feeders (hunting mice rats or birds ??????)

Early morning, a vocal Green Woodpecker in the creek before flying over the sailing club towards the Dip at 07:30 was only my second ever record for Elton. Also 4 Brambling (1 male) were still visiting the feeders by the car park along with a Lesser Redpoll. On the reservoir 4 Little Ringed Plover, 10 Teal, 6 Gadwall and 50+ Sand Martin. 2 singing Blackcaps.
Additional to Steven's sightings this a.m. 1 Little Egret, 1 Goldeneye, 4 Goosander. Cheers Ian

Lesser redpoll female 4 brambling (2m 2f)-(my attached pictures show the 2 females at different ages and the marking difference on the side is quite striking- the female1 (F1) picture was taken on a previous day)

Much quieter too! Couldn't see the common scoter or the two drake scaups, but - I can't see the drake scaups abandoning 4 females (I know I wouldn't).

Couldn't see the common scoter or the two drake scaups, but - I can't see the drake scaups abandoning 4 females (I know I wouldn't).
