Highlights this early afternoon:
12 Common Tern
280 mixed Lesser Black-backed and Herring Gulls loafing around on the flash. The vast majority were Lessers and juveniles were perhaps 80% of the overall total present but there was nothing out of the ordinary amongst them, though they were still nice to sift through and study.

6 Chiffchaff, 3 Willow Warbler, 3 Whitethroat and 2 Blackcap on Ramsdales Ruck

This morning's highlight was undoubtedly the fresh juvenile Marsh Harrier which was over the fields on the South side just west of the sailing club at c. 8.30 but was chased off by gulls and lost to view behind trees heading towards lightshaw. Other birds seen were 2 Raven, 2 Egyptian geese, 2 Common Sandpiper, single Siskin over and c. 10 Common Tern.

Not really a bird visit (see other wildlife), but did hear grasshopper warbler on two occasions. Two garden warblers also in fine voice. Whilst watching demoiselles on the Hey Brook inflow bridge, a kingfisher flew past from under the bridge less than a couple of meters away. A Cetti's warbler was also very vocal here, and showed extremely well in a bush overlooking the brook. Another was heard at Sorrocroft (?) Farm.
