Even when you get to Georges Lane Kevin its a pretty big place it might be worth asking if there might be someone available that might be able to show you the 'hotspots' particularly if your going to see the s.e.o or snow buntings.

Took my mum and girlfriend to see the SEO at burnt edge this afternoon. Fortunately they or rather one of the SEOs didn't disappoint! Seen initially behind slackcotes and gradually moved towards the plantation whilst being mobbed by a kestrel. Eventually flew over our heads and disappeared into the valley below and was lost to view.

Just to say that I saw the 2 Short Eared owls (one on the wall) on Saturday evening - thrilling site. The two quartered over the fields and seemed to pass something between them over the path where I had just been standing! Amazing. Thanks also to the chap who let me have a look at the owl on the wall through his scope, sorry didn't catch your name, but kind of you. Missed the Snow Bunting on Sat. probably due to volume of people up that way due to the glorious weather.

I took my family for a walk from Wilderswood car park to the mast between about 11 and 13:30 today and saw 1 crow on the way back to the car. We heard a great tit at the car park and a grouse in the fields near Wilderswood but that sums the trip up. At least we had a good walk.
We met two chaps near the mast (sorry I didn't ask your names but we did talk about the forum) who had gone specifically to look for the bunting and they agreed that there was nowt about and thought it strange that there was nothing flying over.
Anyway, I'm glad that other people managed to see something later as it gives me hope that I can still get up there one afternoon soon and drop lucky.
My question is, can anyone tell me why there was nothing doing around lunchtime? I understand feeding patterns may dictate that birds aren't feeding or were feeding elsewhere but on my trips up there I usually see a few gulls over and see a few lbjs bobbing about if nothing else.

We have put down some more seed on the track opposite the main mast building by the gate and stone wall which is the county boundary. Within half an hour, what was presumably a new(ish) Snow Bunting was feeding on the seed and was going backwards and forwards from GM to Lancs. Confirming our suspicions that at least three different birds have been present in the area as the two male birds were again in the second to last compound in Lancs.
Also three Short-eared Owls still around Burnt Edge tonight for myself and Riggers and four Woodcock over at dusk.
