Evening dog walk C8 2 grey partridge, 1 kestrel, C10 2 mute swan in flood water at bottom of rucks, Diggle flash 2 GoldenEye showing well, no sign of mute swan. Gordon I couldn't hear any sound from the kestrels but they certainly provided some entertaining aerobatics.

Bernard, heard Kestrels making a strange Coot like call before I saw them (not heard this call before). I was in the middle of C8 yesterday when Canada Geese flew over, must of been other side of thicket to you.

morning dog walk. similar to Gordon, but my chiffchaff was in C9, a single mute swan on diggle flash and 2 lesser black backed gull on fir tree flash, The 2 kestrels put on a great display over C8 swooping and diving before splitting up to hunt 1 over C7 the other over C8.
Gordon we must have been pretty close again, when i saw the 2 canadas yesterday i was just cutting through the gap at the bottom of the new road near the choked pond,

no sign of marsh harrier, Scott it very probably is the same bird, a marsh harrier was spotted in late Jan heading from Penny flash towards Tinker Joes and has been seen a few times since, i haven't had a positive sighting myself as yet this year, i did see a probable last week but it was very distant and by the time i got my bins up it had gone, although myself and Gordon have both seen marsh harrier over here in 2011,12, and 13.

morning walk C9 2 goldeneye 1m, 1f, counted 28 black headed gull when i set out but on way back they numbered 50+ with 2 lesser black backed gull, 5 mallard, 7 tufted duck, 12 coot, 1 great crested grebe, song thrush, 2 mistle thrush singing from different areas, blackbird, wren, robin, great and blue tit, C8 kestrel, 3 skylark none up singing, 5 meadow pipit, 2 mistle thrush together looked to be paired up, 1 cormorant over, C6 7 canada geese, 15 mallard, 6 coot, 2 great crested grebe, 5 goldfinch, 1 collared dove, blue tit, great tit, decent numbers carrion crow but only saw 4 wood pigeon and 3 magpie could hear a small number of pink footed geese towards Westleigh but didn't actually see them.

Alive with skylarks this morning must have counted at least 40 most of them being in c5, c2 and c8.

C2 3 skylark, robin, goldfinch, 1 cormorant over, blue and great tits
C11 redwing and feildfare couldn't count the numbers as they moved off every time I tried to get closer.
C9 1 goldcrest with a mixed tit flock, mainly long tailed tits.

late morning/early afternoon walk windy and cold with frequent squally showers C9 c20 each black headed gull and coot, 10+ tufted wet and cold by the time i walked around flash so didn't do a proper count, 1 moorhen, 1 cormorant,1 little grebe, 6 mallard, small numbers blue and great tit, 1 blackbird, 1 mistle thrush, magpie, wood pigeon, carrion crow. only birds i saw in good numbers were meadow pipit and they had all been disturbed, in C2 motorbikes scared up 5 skylark and 20ish meadow pipit, C10 again motor bikes scared up about 30 meadow pipit, and C8 a springer spaniel running in the field scared up c30 meadow pipit, 1 skylark, 1 common snipe.

afternoon dog walk, cold and windy with frequent heavy showers, typically as i sit typing this post the sun is shining. C6 40 pochard all flew off from fir tree flash as i was walking past all left in an orderly manner allowing an accurate count, 4 mute swan, 1 juv near car park, a pair and a single adult down the side, 5 mallard, 6 coot, 17 tufted duck, 1 cormorant, 1 great crested grebe,1 moorhen, wood pigeon, carrion crow and magpie, 1 reed bunting, a sparrowhawk darted from the trees on the Bickershaw side of Fir Tree flash aiming at 4 meadow pipit 1 saw it go down in the long grass and didn't see it come back up so presume it caught one. C8 12 meadow pipit, 1 grey heron over. C9 7 mallard, 1 great crested grebe, 2 cormorant, 72 black headed gulls, 18 coot, 14 tufted duck, kestrel, blue tit, blackbird,great tit.

Gordon I couldn't hear any sound from the kestrels but they certainly provided some entertaining aerobatics.
similar to Gordon, but my chiffchaff was in C9, a single mute swan on diggle flash and 2 lesser black backed gull on fir tree flash,
The 2 kestrels put on a great display over C8 swooping and diving before splitting up to hunt 1 over C7 the other over C8.
Gordon we must have been pretty close again, when i saw the 2 canadas yesterday i was just cutting through the gap at the bottom of the new road near the choked pond,

no sign of marsh harrier, Scott it very probably is the same bird, a marsh harrier was spotted in late Jan heading from Penny flash towards Tinker Joes and has been seen a few times since, i haven't had a positive sighting myself as yet this year, i did see a probable last week but it was very distant and by the time i got my bins up it had gone, although myself and Gordon have both seen marsh harrier over here in 2011,12, and 13.

C6 40 pochard all flew off from fir tree flash as i was walking past all left in an orderly manner allowing an accurate count, 4 mute swan, 1 juv near car park, a pair and a single adult down the side, 5 mallard, 6 coot, 17 tufted duck, 1 cormorant, 1 great crested grebe,1 moorhen, wood pigeon, carrion crow and magpie, 1 reed bunting, a sparrowhawk darted from the trees on the Bickershaw side of Fir Tree flash aiming at 4 meadow pipit 1 saw it go down in the long grass and didn't see it come back up so presume it caught one.
C8 12 meadow pipit, 1 grey heron over.
C9 7 mallard, 1 great crested grebe, 2 cormorant, 72 black headed gulls, 18 coot, 14 tufted duck, kestrel, blue tit, blackbird,great tit.
