Birds came in during a heavy shower between 1100 and 1130. Still present 1330 and appeared well settled, several with their heads tucked in. Associating with an imm. Mute Swan that was already present.

1100 - 1200 with Simon Ghilks
Mute Swan - juv Cormorant - 5 8 Skylark mostly moving north apart from 1 moving south Wigeon - 1 Goldeneye - 3 Coot - 8 Goosander - 6 Linnet - 3 Rock Pipit - 1 Dunlin - 1 appeared to have a problem with its right eye Golden Plover - 3 flew around looking to alight, eventually landing on the west bank of no 1, we watched them bathing and then resting. Cracking close up views of them in great fresh plumage

A stroll round this afternoon hoping for a wandering seabird !!! alas no such luck.
3 black terns - one adult and two juveniles, initially all one No. 1 but due to constant and increasing harassment by BH Gulls eventually moved onto No.3 but with little respite!
2/3 swallows through.

1 Sparrowhawk sat on wall of No1, flew low over the water then put up all the Wagtails near the central well. 1 Kestrel c20 Swallow c20 Swift through in a few small parties 30-40 House Martin c20 Sand Martin c30 Pied Wagtail 25 Common Gull 2 Herring Gull c40 Lesser Black-backed Gull 200+ Black Headed Gull 47 Goosander c35 Great Crested Grebe c80 Tufted Duck 2 Cormorant Didn't pick out the Scaup but can be elusive at times.

A couple of hours this morning, the most interesting thing of note was the United Utilities 'groundsmen' using radio controlled mowing machines. Pity they have no money to do a proper job of securing this place properly!!!!
Birds were 2 swifts, the scaup, 4 wheatears, and 7 or so sand martins. Not much competition for the state-of-the-art gadget I'm afraid.

Didn't have scope so couldn't get a close enough look to scrutinise them all in the hope of finding something a little less common. c30 tufted ducks 7 pied wagtails flock of c20 starling
Not the busiest of days, bird-wise that is. A lot of people walking their dogs letting the dogs plunge in to the water and scare the birds.
