It's pretty fine darn good result and effort by all involved avocets and people alike. Is this a first for manchester? NBN has them mainly on Mersey Dee esturary.
I should say so! Locations with inland, freshwater breeding Avocets are rare enough anywhere in the UK.

Thought this thread had been quiet recently? Well, here's the reason why...
We are very pleased to announce that, rather incredibly, a pair of Avocets have bred at Rumworth and have successfully hatched three chicks. The chicks are now 11 days old and are doing very well.
The reasons for keeping such news very quiet (until this time) should be instantly obvious but our serious consideration was also given to other breeding birds at this site. Now, with all birds doing very well and yesterday's mammoth fishing match around the shore of the site seemingly causing the Avocets and their young little disturbance, we can see no further reason to keep the magnificent news quiet.
Sincere thanks to Simon Warford and Andy Makin for their on-site vigilance and updates.
For any birders visiting the site, the access arrangements as on the Manchester Birding website Rumworth site guide must be adhered to and under no circumstances should anyone venture beyond the Hawthorns by the island or onto the edges of the lodge. Please view only from a sensible distance.
I'm sure you'll all agree that this is a fantastic occasion for the county, let's hope all three chicks survive to fledging.
