Last time A large number of these birds visited the Wayoh, they stayed about two and a half hours and then left doing 4 or 5 flight circuits beforehand.

2 Arctic Terns. Present throughout giving distants views only until I crossed the embankment as I was finishing off. All of a sudden one of the birds flew within a few yards, even drawing comments from fisrtly a chap with a youngster, who said "is that an Arctic Tern", and then a woman following behind who said "that's an Arctic Tern isn't it". Binoculars not needed as it was so close, blood-red bill and streamers clearly visible. Her husband was put to rights as he had just told her "It's just another gull ". I got the feeling he won't forget that remark for some time. "I know that is a duck" he shouted as a Mallard flew across, and even though he identified it as a Mallard, it did not get him out of jail !
