2nd winter Iceland Gull in tonight's roost, probably a different bird to the 2 birds seen earlier in the month.

Gull roost had quite a few large gulls in but with no white wingers. Of interest though a leucistic Black Headed Gull was present and also a Black Headed Gull with white primaries.

A Black-tailed Godwit was an unexpected bird this afternoon, it landed briefly on the bank of no 3 Resv. Whilst the Gull roost held the 3rd winter Yellow-legged Gull again.

4 Whooper Swans were present until approx 0715 when they departed east 5 Mute Swans 13 Pochard 1 Shoveler 11 Pink Footed Geese were on No 1, then moved to No 3 where they stayed probably until shortly before 0900 1 Ringed Plover 10 Lapwing 1 Kingfisher

5 Mute Swan 350+ Canada Geese 1 Pink Footed Goose 1 Barnacle Goose 2 Embden Geese 8 Gadwall still present 1 Ringed Plover per Paul Wren 1 Snipe
Whilst we were counting the Canada Geese, Tony O'Mahoney came back to tell us an ICELAND GULL had flown over our heads. It was almost dark as we scanned No 2, but sure enough we picked the bird up. It looked like the large adult bird which has been present around the county for a few weeks now.

As per Robs sightings also singles of Pink footed and Barnacle geese with the 100s of Canadas most of the geese had departed by 8:30
Also late afternoon 4 Golden Plover feeding atop the grassy bank between Nos 1 & 3 6 Male Pochard Gulls wouldn't settle tonight and were moving enmass between all 3 resers No Iceland Gull seen by 5pm

7 Mute Swan 5 Gadwall 2 Pochard 9 Coot 2 Pintail (pr) 15 Mallard 33 Tufted Duck on No 3 and smaller nos on other two reservoirs I counted 15 Goosander in total, but unusually most of them appeared to be males
1 Dunlin was on the bank until a dog walker disturbed it, I saw it fly to the waters edge as I was leaving
The gull roost was facing the wrong direction and I couldn't pick up anything obviously different, but there were at least 3 Great Black Backed Gulls and good numbers of Herring Gulls

A Grey Plover did a circuit of the Reservoirs for c20 minutes this am,last seen over no 1. Also this am a Kingfisher, a single Pinkfoot, 4 Dunlin, 2 Wigeon and 4 Pochard.

Snipe in the central area Wigeon 2 Goosander 12 seen Goldeneye c.30 Finally at 5.00pm as the light was starting to fade 2nd winter Iceland Gull picked up in the roost just as I was giving up as my face was being stung. Duly added to my county list

I spent an hour here this frozen evening, dressed in lycra, on the cycle ride home from work: utter madness.
I had given up hope of seeing Iceland Gull by about 16:50 and had pedalled back up the brew. Many thanks to Karen and colleagues for hailing me back, and finally getting me onto it.
I have never seen the reservoirs looking so beautiful, but so cruel.

Great Northern Diver, No1 1 Meadow Pipit 4 Lapwing on bank of No2 then moved to No3 c70 Pink-footed Goose over. At least 30 Golden Plover on covered reser. with about 10 Lapwing, part of the area was obscured from my view so probably a few more than this. 70-80 Tufted Duck mainly on No2, highest number for a while.
