At 1715 tonight in the rain and pitch black, I had to catch a cygnet which had been shot with an airgun near Bamfurlong Bridge - between there and the West Coast main line bridge. Luckily it's doing well, the slug is in my possession and if very lucky could be matched to a gun. Anyone in that area - please look out for yobs with airguns and ring the police, as there will be an incident number for this and Bamfurlong police station (brand new) is nearby.

6NL is a veteran Swan (his territory is Turner's Flash and he is at least 20 yrs old). He knows how to cope with ice! Took another swan into care off the canal at Higher Ince today (suspected lead and dog bite). This cold weather makes them release fat stores and the lead that may be held in it.
