The garden Robin appearing agitated as it twice hovered facing our Leylandii hedge. The reason became clear as a tiny Robin fledgling appeared on the ground below and went behind our shed.

No less than 6 jays viewable from my garden visiting a nearby garden this morning. Didn't have binocs on me, but lack of colour in birds and strange calls lead me to deduce that young were involved.

About a dozen long tailed tits came to visit in my Radcliffe garden this evening, possibly 14 in total! This for me is a garden record! Also worth a note whilst I'm logging this is our Robins are doing well for their 2nd brood but in a different nest, don't know how many yet but last time they reared 3!! Our local house sparrows have done well so far too and some have been cheeky enough to work out how to help themselves to the grubs in storage that I use for the birds! It's funny to watch their cheeky antics Ta!

A casual lift of the curtain brought me eye to eye with a male bullfinch and his 'chick'. They were in the midst of the bush from which my feeder hangs in winter. It was almost as if he was saying to the 'juv', 'and this is where you can get sunflower hearts later in the year'. I hope so.

Nice to see a juvenile bullfinch in my old trafford garden this evening being fed by the male on closer inspection of this male he looks to have no claws on both feet, just clumps, he looks well though & manages to still sit on the feeders. No signs of the female, hopefully she is tending to more juveniles.

hi fred, will keep this short & sweet. in old Trafford there is a good colony of swifts with lots of ideal homes with nest sites, new buildings & the blocking up of holes under the eaves don't help. there is an article in the recent rspb magazine natures home that has some good information in it on projects for the swifts in citys. if you don't get that magazine check on the rspb website for more information. hope this helps.

Nothing overly exciting but I had a pair of robins nesting in my radcliffe garden for the first definate confirmed time this spring and only found out this weekend that they successfully reared 3 young which are almost at the stage where they can fend for themselves! Usually one can expect a max of 2 but happily all 3 have done very well so I'm most pleased with that! Ta!
