Walk on January 1 but very little to report. Disappointed to find no feeders and unable to fill up the 2020 list. Any reason for their absence?

Not been out and about since last year, so nice to be able to get out again.

Working this morning, so a breif visit this evening had to do. Some highlights included: Teal, 4+ goosander, great black backed gulls, Redwings gathering presumably to roost with a mistle thrush and a kestrel. Ta!

07.45am to 11am highlights. 45 Pink footed geese over 10 west followed by 35 east. 1 Greylag gull over west 1 Goldeneye. 9 Gadwall. 26 Teal. 2 Shoveler. 3 Little Egrets. 1 Meadow pipit. 3 Song thrush singing. 1 large 1st winter gull that caught my attention with it's long legs,clean flat head and long bill making me think Caspian Gull but the light was to poor to be sure and it flew off before 7.55am.

Whilst walking between the canal and river a robin perched about a foot away from me .I watched it for about 10 minutes when it surprised me by landing on my hand.

Quite a good morning with 2 Little Egrets, 42 Teal, 5 Goosander, 1 Kingfisher and 5 Gadwall on the res. 11 Lesser Redpoll feeding in a tree by the river. 4 Water Rail (3 seen) along the frozen canal with another in stream below Withins. At Withins overflow 1 Dipper. 200 then 70 Pink-footed Geese over SE at 9.00 a.m. Cheers Ian,
