Over 100 Waxwings on Derby Road Heaton Moor at 0920. They were in a bare tree on the stretch between Dalton Grove and Warwick Road.

A re-examination of the colour-ringed Waxwing's rings (see my post of 1st Feb) showed that in fact the yellow ring was not yellow but lime green, which makes it a 1st W male ringed at Aboyne, Aberdeenshire 7.11.10 and after its trip to Bolton it was re-sighted in Shrewsbury 9.1.11.

Whalley Range c70 Egerton Road North 1.05pm - flew towards Old Trafford 1.20pm Westerling Way 65+ - feeding on berries before heading towards... 1.35pm Egerton Road North 17 on return - numbers building to 70+ stayed in this area until I left 2.15pm. Feeding on berries / forming into small flighty groups

In Bolton this morning 8.45am, 30+ waxwings on Folds Road A676.
In the butchered tree near the river bridge (cant miss the nearby blue carwash).
They were feeding on a berry bush near the drive entrance to the left of the tree. They flew off, not returned since.

Around c150 Waxwings still at the junction Derby Road/Dalton Grove Heaton Moor at 14.30. I watched them from 13.45 but they were seen off by a Sparrowhawk at 14.00.. They returned 15 mins later and continued a feedy frenzy on the berry laden trees. (There are plenty of trees berry laden trees around this area). Also several Redwing feeding as well. Waxwings still there when I left at 14.30 and seemed to be growing in numbers. Regards John Tro

A female Waxwing with the colour rings Yellow over Green over Blue, photographed by Adrian Dancy at Weston St Bolton 27.11.10 was ringed in Stromness, Orkney 3.11.10 and still there 11.11.10, then it was photographed by Robin Chittenden in Norwich 23.11.10 and from Bolton it then was photographed in Hardingstone, Northants on 23.1.11! These birds certainly get around.

About 130 Waxwings on Derby Road/Dalton Grove in Heaton Moor, Stockport at 0830. The birds were feeding one of the berry bushes on Dalton Grove then flying back to a large tree on the junction with Derby Road. _________________________________________ Just done a quick count from a photo I took of the tree. There actual total is around 180.

While in the vircinity of Moss Side,had a walk over to Westirling Way,Walley Range. 40+ in tree but flew off just as I arrived at 12-30pm,I hung around the area for 30 minutes,Then 34 returned to the same tree next to the Berry tree . For anyone going to see if they are still around.BEWARE people around give you dirty looks as if your kerb crawling,Well it is Walley Range. So keep moving around.

c93 waxwings on Dukinfield/Ashton border Whitelands Road near Whitelands Garden Centre and Tulip Foods, feeding on some berries in Tulip Food compound. Only 59 originally then more flew in.

20 or so Wax Wings seen on Knowle Avenue Ashton-under-Lyne on a large apple tree. Come in from Taunton Road and just before the mini roundabout there is a house on the corner to the right with land at the side and a walk way. The Waxwings were seen eating the apples there today and were present for some time. Spotted by my wife on her way shopping.

15 Waxwings seen at about 5pm in trees opposite the Asda car park in Wythenshawe. They flew off towards the top end of Cornishway. Presumably part of the same group seen by Gerry Flanagan - I think they've been around for a couple of days and are fairly mobile.
Definitely brightened up the walk back from work!
