Hi Jay, I saw a flock of about 100 Waxwings in St Helens about a month ago, and they were clearly eating buds off a Sycamore tree. They were in the tree feeding for at least 20 minutes.
Interestingly, Waxwing records from St Helens have almost completely dropped away since then, and I did wonder if it was a sign that food was becoming scarce, following several days of high activity in the area.

Having seen both Warwick Road, Heaton Moor Waxwings (approx 60) and the Cheadle Waxwings (approx 55+) within hours of each other I am wondering if they might be the same flock of birds moving around?
The two sites are probably just over 2 miles apart as the crow (waxwing) flies!?
Apologies again for forgetting your name this morning, Chris, hope to see you again around the area.

Just before i decided to go check out the Heaton moor waxwings today i was passing Leigh street, next to Plymouth grove nr Ardwick, at about 12.30, and around c100 Waxwings were in a tree until were scared off by a group of people walking by. Got a good view and some nice calling from them until they all moved on (just as i was getting my camera out haha). Typical thing was though, by the time i got to Heaton moor, i never actually saw any in the Warwick road area. That's birdwatching for you though i suppose.
