Just rescued a juvenile House Sparrow which decided to come into my kitchen this morning and flapped about before hiding away near the sink.
The bird is now back in it's rightful place in the bushes of the back garden!!
Never mind a garden list, I might have to start a house list now!!

Luckiest sighting of the year for me today I was stood outside my works on my break at 10am. I saw the reflection of a bird in a puddle on the floor, looked up and thought Buzzard, but on closer inspection as it got closer and hovered a couple of times i thought, Osprey? luckily i had my bins with me as i'd been checking the peregrines on the parish church. It came closer and lower and was indeed an Osprey Headed off south over the town centre.
Cheers Dean.

It lloks as if Yellow Wagtails might be on the move early, having completed breeding early due to the good weather? (I think they only do one brood normally). Last Wednesday we were watching at least 2 males visiting presumed nest sites on Barton Moss. Re-visiting the site yesterday - just one heard only, and today - nothing.

At a loss today. No car (MOT time) and a full hall, stairs and landing to try and avoid decorating. So, whilst having an extended breakfast 10 minutes ago, I heard the ummistakable call of a Yellow Wagtail. It's not the first time I've had them in the field behind the house but after a few minutes of hearing it call but not being able to see it, I caught a glimpse of the thing flying right towards me! Uncredibly, it landed on the roof of my house and preceeded to wander about the roof of ours and our neighbours for the next minute or so. A juvenile no less, now where had that come from? Of course I took the chance and lept inside for the camera after a while and when I came back out it had gone. Remarkable no less though
