Around 8pm today, the pair Common Scoter were still present as were all 3 Garganey, a first summer Mediterranean Gull, Dunlin, the usual recent Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Wigeon and 700 Sand Martin.

Farmland, yacht yard end - 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Fieldfare
Main site: Cetti's Warbler x3 heard, Garganey pair and Oystercatcher on spit, buzzard over+ redshank and Black Tailed Godwit at Ramsdale.
I know I posted casually but... In reality it's my first proper birdwatch in 3 years. I've been travelling and the like but coming to the Flash is beautiful. It's up from here

c3000 Sand Martin, with a portion of the large flock present first thing moving off high north and replaced by birds seen coming in from the south
1 vocal Fieldfare in trees by the Point, eventually flew off east

Early this morning's highlights:
Sandwich Tern present at 07:45 but flew off strongly west at 08:05
9 Black-tailed Godwits flew in from the west and dropped onto Ramsdales Scrape, whilst a further 8 birds appeared to fly in high from the east at 08:40 and veer off SW still at height.
Pair of Garganey present again this morning, on the Kidney Pond, best seen from the viewing screen there.

That's frustrating!!!
I was there at 16:30 and had a good look from Ramsdales, specifically for Garganey!
Anyway, 3 Chiffchaff singing: Ramsdales, Teal Hide & in between. Single Goosander at Teal Hide
On arrival, no hirundines; however, just before leaving there was a flock of 100+ Sand Martin the far side near Sorrowcow, possible Swallow with them, but the strong icy wind was off the Flash & I was looking into the sunlight. BVD. Could still be around first thing, I guess

Couple of hours mid afternoon.
Close to the shore near the car park 2 Great Crested Grebes giving a really nice courtship display.
A circuit around the hides produced 1 Grey Heron from Edmondson's
No sign of Little Ringed Plover from Ramsdale's
2 Oystercatcher in front of Horrock's
2 Buzzards together in tree tops from Teal Hide with good numbers of Teal, Gadwall & Shoveler on the scrape.
Elsewhere Reed Bunting, Long-Tailed Tit, Goldfinch, Pied Wagtail, Song Thrush, 2 Cetti's Warbler heard, a few Chiffchaffs in song & a Robin that perched right beside me whilst I was eating a seeded health bar - is it me or are Robin's becoming even more tame! & of course I did share my treat with it!

This early morning:
Third calendar year Mediterranean Gull present, looking all the world like a pristine breeding plumaged adult but for retained immature outer primaries, and displaying frantically to every Black-headed Gull it could!
A pair of Goldeneye in Ramsdales watched in wonderful true courtship display followed by copulation, not something I recall personally seeing in the county before (though clearly it goes on!).

Of note :- M & F Reed Bunting; M & F Chaffinch; Willow, Coal & Long-Tailed Tits; Buzzard;
100+ Redwing in sheep field by Mossley Hall Farm with 2 Mistle Thrush & a few beautifully marked domestic Ducks/Geese.
The highlight of the afternoon though was watching 4 Male Goldeneye displaying to 7 females near western bay by cocking their heads back at right angles then thrusting them forward.
2 Oystercatchers were calling from the end of the sailing club jetty with 2 more late on in front of Horrock's Hide.
Also 3 Heron over; Great Crested Grebe; 1 Little Egret & 2 Snipe from Ramsdale's viewing screen & 2 Cetti's Warbler heard.
