I have reopened this thread to merely post sightings for information only Tim.
As far as I'm aware the permit situation hasn't changed (it remains permit only) and the site most certainly has not been 'opened up' for birders but I reiterate that I'm posting sightings for information only; nothing more.
I am in absolutely no way advocating that birders trespass to gain access on site though but I should add that whilst I would expect anyone posting sightings on this thread to be accessing the site with the required permission, I have no way of knowing who has or has not done so. Any discussion or intimation of gaining access without the proper authorisation/permission/permit for this site on this forum will be deleted though.

Ring-billed Gull still present on No.1, thanks to another birder for a scope view.
Also in the roost along with Common, Black-headed, Great Black-backed and Lesser Black-backed was 2 Gulls in particular that could've been suspects for Yellow-legged Gulls but I'm putting them down to Herring Gulls as they were a bit pale and heads were rounder than I'd expect. Some of the Yellow-legged Gull shots in the Gullery look remarkably similar to the birds I'm spotting but I'm just not that confident to make that call !!!
The Scaup pair still showing well on No.3 near the hide.
Other birds of note... Plenty of Pied Wagtails on No.3 cobbles with 1 Meadow Pipit. Approx 30+ Tufted Duck 6 Goosander 2 Goldeneye Plus usuals

Hi Paul, I will be up there about 2ish but it is a mean feat to pick those species out and you're not always guaranteed to see them. A vast expanse of water and vast numbers of Gulls makes it difficult. Cheers

- I arrived at Audenshaw at 14.15 (somewhat delayed by the flight being set back 40 mins and car battery problems at Liverpool, which I resolved by press ganging fellow motorists to give me a push start).
I hoofed it round to the central well area and within ten minutes of scanning No.1 res with the sun behind me, was delighted when the Black-throated Diver surfaced only some 60 yds out; I took a "record shot" of it, as I was the only birder present.
It was still there until at least 15.00, but was really adept at disappearing when actively feeding as it spent so much time submerged and went long distances under water, with only binocs, I considered myself lucky to have seen it and for it to have stayed so long as well; -brilliant bird and a great start to 2014!
Cheers,
Mike P.
