This evening 5-7pm, huge numbers of Swifts spiraling all around Rumworth, probably well over a thousand birds, with good numbers of Martins and Swallows. A juvenile Peregrine causing havoc backwards and forwards attacking Lapwings, Pied Wagtails and forcing Oystercatchers to land on the water. Lapwings numbered 83 including many juveniles also 4 Oystercatchers, 4 Common Sandpipers, 2 Common Gulls and 1 Herring Gull. Must have been a hatch of flying ants or something as there we're also hundreds of Black-headed and Lesser Black-backed Gulls also spiraling high up feeding.
