Oct 18th...pinkfooted geese 78+210+3,200+22+40+300 all east/south east and 80+11+20 south west from north east. Also siskin 7 west,meadow pipit 11 south, chaffinch 18 south,pied wagtail 5 south,wood pigeon 1,000+ south and 200+ on fields, field fare 60 south 22 northeast,redwing 38 west,53 east and 329 south. And one whooper swan east/southeast(only the 6th time i have seen them over the village. The pinkfeet breaking early this year didnt see this movement at this time last year,but still not as many as 15 years ago when we had 20,000+ birds moving east.

Thursday oct 15th..(7:05-8 am). Over lafford lane/ corner of school lane. Sort of dove tailing phils sightings,showing movement on a wide corridor. Wood pigeons 300/greenfinch 12 meadow pipit 6/pied wagtail 2/chaffinch 14/fieldfare 183 and redwing 1,970 (all south)..shows the movement following the beacon ridge and the line of douglas valley. Also today siskin 4(west), c crossbill 2 (west) and song thrush 11 and mistle thrush 2 in gardens near walthew green.

Redwing 830 mostly E and SE much lighter than yesterday, smaller flocks, moving E rather than S, also yesterday morning lots of nocturnal passage was evident, not this morning yesterday movement was still going strong when I stopped watching a 9.35 (I think I would have recorded 4,000 - 5,000 yesterday if I'd started earlier and finished later), this morning pretty much stopped by 9.30

52 meadow Pipits s in 1 hour - I think the big 'mipit' day might have been yesterday, however
far fewer Meadow Pipits have been passing overhead than is usual at this time of year

2 Teal on the lake

may have been an exodus of blackcaps last night - just 1 encountered as opposed to the 5-10 over the last few days
