Pretty sure a peregrine popped into the DW stadium for a brief spell today. After todays display I think Roberto should get it signed in the January window, we could do with a decent predator.

I was also sitting in the North stand on november 5th and was so busy watching a peregrine falcon flying in the East stand that I missed United's only goal!

Thanks very much for your comments. I was hoping that they were peregrines but never having seen one before I wasn't sure and I didn't feel confident to say that they were. I've since looked at loads of pictures of peregrines and found a couple that matched what I saw. Maybe I'll take my small bins to the Everton match just in case.

I was sat in the north stand (SAF stand) and was watching the raptor, which looked like a kestrel in the dusky light toying with idea of landing in the roof area of the east stand. Before the game i was walking across the cricket ground car park and heard a noise above, it turned out to be a peregrine in an aerial spat with another raptor which i thought was a kestrel. The latter flew off towards stretford into the sun, however the peregrine gave good views in the blue sky as it circled high above the cricket pitch.

Male Kestrel flew under the stands at Old Trafford on Sunday well after dusk, possibly looking for a roosting site but maybe looking to dislodge roosting birds?

Almost perfect symmetry at the Reebok stadium yesterday (Sunday 6 Nov), a 5-0 revenge for the FA Cup semi-final with two beautiful raptors over the south west corner of the stadium in the last 10 minutes. As to what they were (they weren't eagles as he was on the pitch ) they had the shape of a falcon but they seemed bigger than a kestrel and appeared to have dark tails and light bellys and under-wings although the flood lights were on and they didn't fly low or bank enough so that I could see their upper parts. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Mistle Thrush have successfully nested on top of the first spot light in the north east corner of the East Stand at Old Trafford. Two adults feeding at least one well grown youngster (would imagine it gets a bit toasty when the lights are on !!!!)

Watching the Man City v Aston Villa game today, saw a female or young Blackbird flying round the stadium. The Bird also rested on the pitch a few times, and flew off when disturbed by footballers. Funny moment when Joe Hart the City keeper went to take a goal kick and the bird was just feet away from him, the City fans broke into a song "Feed the bird and he will score"

There are frequent sightings of House Sparrows at Eastlands. Apparently they make their way to the trophy room and bathe in the considerable dust that has built up in the cabinet.

I was with the United fans behind the goal that day - a Long-eared Owl might have made the day slightly more bearable. Back in the 80's during a rearranged FA Cup 3rd round tie at Old Trafford v Rochdale under floodlights, a Dunlin flew in and landed by the halfway touchline just in front of where I was standing. It said a lot for the game that it wasn't disturbed for several minutes. In the 60s watching United at Sheff Wed a Carrion Crow came and perched on the crossbar of the Wednesday goal - seemingly it was a regular visitor on match day.

A Grey Wagtail was feeding by the sidelines during the match between my beloved Man City v Bolton this afternoon and flew off after getting disturbed by a throw-in!!
Nice to say a quick hello to Tony Coatsworth at half-time too.
