Over the flooded fields off between grange road and filtration beds this evening c. 200 mixed swallow and house martin, 4+ Swift attracted 3 Kestrel and a juvenile Hobby which landed out of sight in a large tree in field between grange road and the M62.

sitting in the normal morning rush hour today, surprised to see a Buzzard sat on the grass in the middle of the roundabout near The John Gilbert, it seemed to think a small twig was a worm and then flew up into one of the trees on the roundabout.

Ringed Goldfinch was ringed on Dales Brow , Swinton about 3 weeks before it died. It was 1 year old. Travelled 3km.

Got a flock of redpolls visiting the garden feeding on the nyger seeds regularly for past three weeks. They are joined by Siskin goldfinch chaffinch & Greenfinch along with the regular garden birds including nuthatch.
I found a ringed goldcrest that had unfortunately hit lounge window . Sent details off to BTO to see where it came from.

4 Kingfishers, 3 looked like juveniles. 2 Little grebes with 3 tiny chicks. 7 Grey wagtails including 5 juveniles 2 Herons Chiffchaff Sparrowhawk
Filtration lagoons 5 House martins 30+ Swallows all flying low heading South 1 Sedge warbler 2 Reed buntings Jay 2 Buzzards 2 Stoats, one jumped into the canal and swam to the opposite bank.

9 Tufted duck 12 Teal Little grebe Common Snipe Grey heron 2 Nuthatch Jay Sparrowhawk (male) Large flock of 150+ Redwing flying north east Also a Mink was seen carrying a Brown rat near the overflow.
Unusually high number of Jays passing through this morning seen 8 in total over 2 hours.

A Crane and a Grey Heron circled above Middle Wood and dropped in cork screw fashion, Amazing sight absolutely huge bird with its neck outstretched made the Grey Heron look small.
